The Westminster Gazette states that the Observer’s forecast (that the Veto Bill will hardly reach the House of Lord's before May) is substantially correct, except that the Government will not wait for a second rejection of the Parliamentary Bill, but will take steps to prevent- it. CLOSELY CONTESTED BY-ELEC-TION. The by-election for Beetle, caused by the resignation of Colonel Sandys resulted: S. N. Uspram, Liberal, 7752; A. Bonar Law, 7776.
