IN BANKRUPTCY.
ESTATE OF W. I. McMURRAY. The Official Assignee (Mr. J. Coleman) has received the following statement from the bankrupt IV. I. McMurray. storekeeper:—“l came to New Zealand in the year 1884, and commenced working on farms in the T'aieri district. I continued to work as a farm hand until a few years ago, when I drew a prize of £4OO in Tattersall’s sweep. I then commenced to follow races and back horses, and went for a trip to England. On returning about four years ago I did some shearing work from time to time, and other odd jobs, I entered into business in New Plymouth and Napier, but did not meet with much success, and finally came to Gisborne with’ my wife and family, and commenced business as a storekeeper. I had, however, no business training, and the result was J got behind, and I decided to leave the "place and make a fresh start. Some time ago I met with a fall from a horse, and since then my memory has not been good. On account of this I have had difficulty in making- up . a statement of my position.”
The* following is a list of unsecured creditors:—Murray. Roberts, and Co. £IOO. Murray and Crompton £SO, Kia Ora Dairying Company £25. Okitn Factory £6, D. Thompson and Co. £47. Cooperative Bakery Co. £8; Smith Bros; £4, Co-operative Butchery Co. £l, Thompson £8; total, £249. The assets are shown at £200; £3O estimated value of stock-in-trade, and £l7O cash in b»*k.
The bankrupt is still in custody, pending the Assignee’s satisfaction regarding the information supplied.
