It transpires that Mr Williamson, who, with his company, was massacred, recently ordered the Abars to relinquish to the'Miri tribesmen the forests which they had seized and to return to the hills. The massacre has '-aused intense excitement in Upper Assam. It is believed it will have a most harmful effect on the Doff las and other tribes. The Light Horse and volunteers in Assam Valley are mobilising. Twelve hundred men are assembling at Sadiya.
