HAWKE’S BAY PRESBYTERY.

MEETING IN GISBORNE

The Hawke’s Bay Presbytery met. ~i St. Andrew’s Schoolroom yesterday. Present: —Revs. Grant (Moderator), Waugh, Tucker, Walker. Blair, Asher (clerk:), and P. B. Frazer (superintendent of Home Missions), and Elders McLeod, Parker, 'Craig, and Bridges. The first business taken was the discussion of Home Missions within vne bounds of the Hawke’s Bay Presbytery. Rev. P. B. Frazer gave in interesting detailed report of his recent visit to tile Weber district. He reported that strong financial support. hadl been promised towards the support of a home missionary. Mr. Farzer was given the hearty thanks of the Presbytery for his address.

An application to be received into the ranks of the home missionaries was laid on the table, the consideration of which was deferred until further information was obtainable.

An application for admission as a home missionary was received from Mr. R. Russell, of this town, and the application was most favorably reported on by, Rev. W. Grant and Mr. M. McLeod. It was agreed upon, the recommendation of Rev. P. B. Fraser, that Mr. Russell be received as. a probationer for home mission work; and that he be placed under- the supervision of Rev. W. Grant in the prosecution of his studies. .

An application from the Takapau Church Committee, in the Hawke’s Bay district, for liberty to .borrow £IOO, in order to complete alterations and extensions, was agreed to on the voices. The question of appointing chaplains to tlie territorial camps was left with Mr. Asher to procure further information.

The Rev. R. Waugh read the Foreign Mission minutes, which were adopted. The following order of Sunday services was arranged: St. Andrew’s (Gisborns). Rev. F. Tucker ,(11 a.m.), Rev. T. A., Asher, 8.A., 7 p.m.; Matawhcro, 2.30 p.m., Rev. Tucker; Patutahi, 7 p.m.. Rev. R. Waugh; Te Karaka, 11 a.m., Rev. R. Waugh; 3 p.m., Rev. R. Waugh; 7 p.m., Rev. P. B. Fraser, M.A.; Whatatutu, 11 a.m.; Rev. P. B. Fraser, M.A., Pu’ha, 2 p.m., Rev. P. B. Fraser, M.A. In the evening the Presbytery met the congregation arid most interesting and helpful addresses were delivered by the Revs. Waugh, P. B. Fraser . and F. Tucker."-' ’>•'
