CONTRACT OR DAY LABOR ?
MR. ANDERSON QUALIFIES HIS
VIEW’S
Mr. A. H. Anderson, the candidate selected by the Labor party for the forthcoming by-election hiT connection with tlie Loro'ugh Council, addressed a fairly large audience at the Sievwright Memorial on Saturday night. Sir. A. S. Richards presided. Mr. Anderson dealt with the Labor party’s platform, and dwelt on the various planks of the party’s policy. In reply to a question tregarding the contract S3 T stem, the candidate said that, although he favored the day labor system on particular grounds, if elected, and the Engineer advised that certain work might be profitably carried out under the contract system, he would certainly be disposed to give the Engineer’s advice his cordial approval. He would ibe prepared to alter his opinion in the circumstances indicated. Messrs J. H. Hall and D. W. Coleman spoke in favor of Mr. Anderson’s candidature.
