TWO OLD PEOPLE DEFRAUDED

WELLINGTON, May 24. The criminal sessions of the Supreme Court concluded to-day with the hearing of the charge of false pretences against a young man named William James Geddys Hughes. It was alleged that Hughes borrowed sums totalling £SO from two old people named Blake, at Karori, representing that lie would shortly receive money from property in Wales. Accused was found guilty, and sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment.
