Great, excitement prevailed in Japanesel sporting circles last month, owing to the defeat of the wrestling champion, Hitacliiyama, who for many years held the championship. Following his defeat by a young and hitherto unknown wrestler, the, news was given great prominence in Japanese newspapers, a,nd telegraphed throughout the empire, the excitement being on a. par with the defeat of Jeffries, and, like Jeffries the old wrestling champion said he “wrestled as in a dream.”
