BREVITIES.

The embalmed head of Oliver Cromwell was exhibited at a meeting of the Royal Archaeological Society at Burlington House. The Rev. H. R. Wilkinson said that it had been in his family for three generations and had never previously been exhibited except privately. The man’s left lung was divided into two parts, said a doctor at the inquest held recently at Battersea on an omnibus driver, whose death was found to be due to apoplexy. There' was no other case on record of a man having three lungs. . “The Scottish minister cleared his throat, but remained silent,” says the “’Varsity.” “The kirk congregation was much, puzzled. At; last it was explained by the minister making the following ingenuous remark “There’s a laddie awa’ there in the gallery a-kissin’ a lassie! When he’s done, all’ll begin’ !’’ “Two choice cuts of energy, And eggs of hard cold cash; Add freely oil diplomacy, With salt of tact a dash. Bedeck with leaves of cheerfulness, And pepper well with nerve ; Behold your salad of success — Stir and serve.”
