HARBOR BOARD STAFF.
COMPREHENSIVE RETURN SOUGHT. , ' During the Harbor Board meeting yesterday Dr. Collins, in accordance with notice moved that a return be laid on the table showing:—• 1. The number of employees unaer present engagement to the Board ; the individual amount of salaries paid, and the length of service credited to each. 2. Whether it has hitherto been considered an administrative rule'by the Board ‘that preference, of promotion ss" given to einnloyees til accord with merit and seniority ; and .in. what individual; cases has. this been ,deparfed ; .from dutd mg'tho past 12 months.' ' ; ' V : ' 3. The number of appointments: subordinate or otherwise/made to the staff in the past two years’ administration, for-which the Board was directly responsible as shown in the minutes? 4. The number of appointments subordinate or otherwise, made to the staff in the past two years’ administration not directly confirmed in the minutes of the Board; by whom each was made, and at"what period ? 5. The number, of individual employees during the past twelve months, holding higher departmental positions under the Board than entitled to by t'heir certificates.
Dr. Collins said that when a certified return was placed 'before the Board it could be moved that a committee he appointed who would go into the question of, the advisability of reorganising the staff, the question of dealing with promotion and so rorth. The chairman seconded the motion, which was carried.
