HOCKEY.
SHIELD COMPETITION. Another round of the Shield competition was played at the Victoria Domain Sesterday, when West End and Civil ervice played a drawn game, and Y.M.O.A. defeated Citv by 6 goals to 1. WEST END v. CIVIL -SERVICE. "West End and Civil- Service played a drawn game, neither side scoring. The game was fairly fast, the West Endforwards playing very well. They had frequent attempts to- shoot a goal, but were unsuccessful. Roderick, Cramp and Morse in- the forwards, and Sim m the backs, were the most conspicuous. Mr A. E. Rees was referee. Y.M.C'.A. v. CITY. Y.M.O.A. defeated City by 6 goals to 1. This game was not so interesting as the first one. “Sticks” was much- in evidence. City played four men short in the first spell, but in the second half they managed to obtain the services of three other player’s. Mr Olsen was referee in the first half, and Messrs Ductson and- Port during t-he second spell. LADIES’ MATCH. The match between the Kowhai ladies and Gisborne ladies will be played on Monday instead of Saturday, on the Domain, at 3 p.m. Messrs. O. R. Olsen and A. E. Rees will be the referees.
