CYCLING.
BRITANNIA CYCLE CLUB. RACE OVER MAKAURI COURSE. Tire Britannia Cycling Club held, a cycle race yesterday over the Makauri course, a distance of about 12 miles. There were eighteen, entries and seventeen started. The following is the result: —F. Gardiner (6mins) 1, A. Hedges (3J minutes) 2, Whitfield (4mtn) 3, E. Davis (3£ min) 4, H. E. Neild (smin) 5. Tire finish was exceptionally good. The* five placed men were riding in a bunch till a few yards from home where the first three shot out and Gardiner won by a verjr narrow margin. N. Ingram (£-min), who* covered the course in 34 min. 20sec, put up the fastest time. He* gave a very creditable display considering that he rode unpaced over the whole course.
