PRODUCE SALES
Messrs. Malcolm and Co. report on their produce sales held on Friday and Saturday as follows:—Roosters Is 3d to 2s 3d, pullets Is 6d to 2s, hens Is 3d to 2s, drakes 2s and 2s 6d, eggs Is 9d and Is lOd, butter lOd and lid, apples 2d and 3d per lb, cabbages 2s 3d per dozen, bacon (sides) 6d and 6£d per lb, potatoes 10s and 13s per sack, and small vegetables as per usual. Messrs. Miller and Craig held their weekly produce sale on Saturday, the following prices being realisedHens Is 5d and 2s, roosters Is 6d and 3s, turkeys 5s 6d, ducks Is Bd, eggs Is 9d, butter 9d to Is, potatoes 11s 6d per sack, apples 4s 3d per box, pears 3s 6d per box, hams 74d per lb. and bacon 7d per lb.
HORSE SALE,
Messrs. Williams and Kettle held their weekly horse, sale at their Bazaar on Saturday. Some thirty-five horses of various stamps were offered, and the ■majority of them Were disposed of. Hacks brought prices ranging from £3 to £ll, while harness horses realised from £6 5s to £lO. At the same place the firm offered for sale by auction Mr. Robert Johnston’s residence at Wbataupoko. The initial bid was £IOOO, from which the price mounted to £I3OO, at which figure it passed in.
CUSTOMS RETURNS
During the Aveek the local Customhouse collected the folloAving revenue : Customs duties £670 4s 6d, beer duty £53 4s, light dues £24 4s 7d, shipping fees 3s, sale of oysters £6 10s; total £754 6 S Id.
