MARERE’S ROUGH TRIP

[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. MELBOURNE, June 10. The steamer Marere, from London, had a rough time during a gale. Heavy seas broke over the vessel, and the spray made its way down the funnel. There were clouds of steam in the engine room, and the cylinders and boilers became choked with salt. There was some damage on deck. THE MAHENO’S EXPERIENCE. (Received June 11, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 10.

The U.S.S. 'Coy’s Maheno was swept by heavy seas and some of her ventilators were carried away. Two port holes in the music room were stove in and the water flooded the apartment. The damage done was slight.
