BOWLING.

TURANGANUI CLUB. The final in the Handicap Pairs of the Turanganui Club was played yesterday afternoon, between Gray and Nasmith (5 points) and Wootton and Simson • (scr.). The game was commenced on Saturday afternoon, but had to he discontinued owing to heavy rain. On the 3rd head Simson and liis partner . got in seven, which gave them a lead of Bto 6. Putting in some excellent' play this pair increased their score to 17 to 7 on the 10th head, when play ceased. On resuming yesterday afternoon Simson and Wootton commenced operations with a four, which gave" them a commanding lead. Notwithstanding this Gray and Nasmith put up a determined fight. They lay excellently time and again, only to he defeated by Simson’s last bowl. The latter player was in his old. form, never missing a chance. Nasmith played a good, uphill fight. His driving was deadly, and on numerous heads he altered the appearance of the game. From the 11th head an excellent game resulted, Nasmith and his partner suc : ceeding in reducing the deficit on the 21st head to 11 points—29 to 18. Both the leads played brilliantly, Wootton’s experience of the game serving him in good stead against Gray, a first-year player.
