DEATH UNDER CHLOROFORM.
IPER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, June 19. At an inquest at the hospital on the body of James Price, a single man, aged 33 who died under chloroform', the medical evidence showed that an operation was performed to remove an abscess on the liver, that being the only chance of saving the man’s life. The jury returned a verdict of death from natural causes. BOY’S JAW SHOT OFF. A boy, W. Hjorch, aged 12, son of a resident of Hoteo, was climbing a tree with a gun to shoot sparrows. The trigger was caught by a twig, and the gun exploded, blowing away the boy’s lower jaw. He was removed to the hospital, and died there. OLD MAN SCALDED TO DEATH. HOKITIKA, June 19. Edwin Finch, aged 81, died this morning, as the result of injuries received a fortnight ago,- consequent on the overturning of a bucket of boiling water.
NAPIER DROWNING CASE. THE BODY IDENTIFIED. NAPIER, June 19. The body of a man about 70 years of age was found floating in the breakwater harbor yesterday afternon. From a pocket book found in the coat pocket it is supposed 1 that deceased is named P. Stewart, employed by the Rabbit Board. From appearances the body had rmt been more than about a day in i lie water.
