REQUEST TO LOCAL BODIES. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.! WELLINGTON, June 19. At a meeting of the advisory committee of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, to consider the holiday muddle, a resolution was passed that as the* Government departments are only observing Thursday as a holiday, thus making the Prince of Wales’ Birthday generally observed on that day, all employers of labor be advised of the holiday for Prince of Wales’ Birthday on Coronation Day in lieu of Friday, and that all mayors and chairmen of local bodies throughout New Zealand will be requested to,act similarly. WELLINGTON GROCERS’DECISION HOLIDAY ON FRIDAY. The Wellington master grocers finally decided to-day not to observe a holiday on Coronation Day, but to close on the following day—Prince of Wales’ Birthday, the latter being a compulsory holiday under the grocers’ award. POSITION IN PALMERSTON. PALMERSTON N., June 19. The Half-holiday Association to-day dealt with the holiday question at a largely attended meeting of business men. After considering the various awards respecting "holidays, it was decided to close all premites on Coronation Day, hut to remain open throughout Wednesday and Friday.
