AUSTRALIA NO LONGER A DUMPING GROUND.
Comemnting upon! Mr. Sydney Buxton’s proposal for the establishment of Imperial Labor Exchanges the “West minster Gazette” says: “The colonies are now able to take the pick of emigrants without fear or being flooded by undesirable classes. The real objection is, however, deeper, because Australia dislikes the idea of machinery which coukle be used b- the employers of Australia to cause friction with the workers.”
The “Pall. Mall Gazette” says: “The Board of Trade must he educated to' the fact that Australia must no longer be regarded as - dumping-ground for British undesirables, and the nlain-sookcn rebuff given by Air. Batchelor on behalf of tlie Commonwealth m?- prove a blessing in disguise.”
