THE RUGBY CAME. BANKS versus LAW. The annual challenge match between the banking fraternity and the luminaries of the law took place on the Victoria Domain yesterday. Both teams had a large following, and keen interest was evinced in tlie game. Gerhard and White were most prominent for Banks and Bristow and Kaipara for Law. The game ended in Law winning by 9 points to 8. Mr L. F. Williams controlled the match. THE GAME IN THE COUNTRY. The team to represent the Waipaoa Club against Mangatu at Whatatutu tomorrow will be picked from the following : G. Watson, W. Luttrell, E. Spooner, J McKay J. King, Thomson, P. Fisher, L. Spence, W. Tait, E. Tidswell, R. Walker, W. Berry, H. Redmond, E. Semmens, J. Hanes, W. Mills, W. Parkinson, V. Currie, J. Newsham and E. H. Casey. All the above players are reuested to be on the ground at 2.30' p.m. sharp. TO-MORROW’S" MATCHES.

WELLINGTON DEFEATS MARLBOROUGH.
IPEE PEESS ASSOCIATION.J WELLINGTON, June 22. Wellington defeated Marlborough at Rugby to-day by 21 to 17, after a fast exciting game. Hie visiting forwards put in good work in the second spell, with the wind behind them, and repeatedly had the local side strictly on the defensive. There was not a great deal between the two teams, though the local backs were superior to the visitors. Cook (2), Perry, Walshe and Mitchinson scored tries for the visitors, McFarlane converting three, and Hegglun, Manning, Mogridge, Healey and McDonald scored for Marlborough, O’Brien converting one.
UNIVERSITY TEAM BADLY BEATEN.
The Wellington B. team defeated the combined University team which tours Australia by 32 to 3.
THE ASSOCIATION CAME.
COUNTY (4) v. WAIMATA (2)
The first appearance of the Waimata Association Club away from their own ground took place at the Polo Ground yesterday afternoon, when they met the County Seniors in a friendly game. The Waimata team was captained by Harry Grange, and were a man short, while on the other hand County put by far the strongest team they have turned out this season in the field. The game was fairly evenly contested, and the scores—County 4 goals, Waimata 2 goals—just aboutindicated the strength of the teams. The Waimata team includes several players who would be an acquisition to- any of the teams engaged in the Cup competition. The County team propose returning the visit on Saturday, July Bth, weather permitting. It is also hoped that matches will be arranged with Y.M.C.A. and Taruheru. The matches for next Saturday are:—Seniors: County v. Y.M. C.A., Polo Ground, 3 p.m. Juniors: Y.M.C.A. v. High School (ground to be arranged).
Y.M.C.A. v. COUNTY
The Y.M.C.A. journey to the Polo Ground to-morrow in the senior competition, and will be represented bv: — Gardner, Webster, Woods, Forge, Hollands, Meikle, Goff, Greene, Johnstone, Taylor, and Hughes. A conveyance will leave the Y.M.C.A. Rooms at 2 o’clock sharp. The team to represent High School versus Y.M.C.A. to-morrow will be chosen from the following:—Fitzgerald, Hoare, Craig, Falconer, Frazer, Williams, Hay, Alley, Hickson, Patterson, Hookey, Fvson, Reeves, Porter. The above players are requested to be on the ground at 1.15 p.m. sharp.
