HAWKE’S BAY WINTER MEETING. YASMAK WINS”THE STEEPLES. LPEB PEESS ASSOCIATION j HASTINGS, June 21. For the first day of the winter meeting there was fine weather, and the attendance was fair. The totalisator figures were £9128, as against £5635 for the first day last year, an increase of £3593. The following are the results :

Woodlands Hack Steeples Handicap, 120 sovs., 2 miles.—Wanstead, 9.7, 1; Rosegrove, 9.10, 2; Pushful, 10.0, 3. Also started: lioanga 10.8, Sunray 10.7, Sardonyx 10.5, Dion Heart 9.11, Kohupataka 9.7, Castle Canter 9.7. Lion Heart and Kohupatiki fell. Hoanga ran off, Castle Canter pulled up, and Sardonyx was left at the post. Wanstead won without pressure .by a length, with Pushful 100 yards away third. Time, 4min 39sec. Ladies’ Bracelet Handicap, of 100 sovs, H miles.—Esparto, 11.8, 1; Peary, 10.7, 2; Amato, 10.11, 3. The total for the two days was £20838, as compared with £11578 for the last meeting, an increase of £9260.
