BOXING.
SEND-OFF TO MR. T.F. SEYMOUR. A large number of members of thfe Gisborne Boxing Association assembled at the Royal Hotel last evening for the purpose of making a presentation to Mr F. T. Seymour, a prominent active member of the Association, who leaves for Australia this morning. Comolhnentary reference was made to the material assistance Mr. Seymour had rendered the Association as a member of the Executive. As ,a mark of the high esteem in which he was held by his fellow members of the Association, Mr. Sevmour was presented with a travelling bag,, suitabily inscribed. A letter of introduction to the highest officials in boxing on the other side' was also handed to Mr. Seymour. In replying, Mr. Seymour expressed his high appreciation of the sentiment which had prompted the presentations, and said that anything he had done had been for the benefit of the sport generally. He assured those'present that he would maintain an interest for all time

The Wellington Boxing Association commenced a tournament to-night at the. Stadium in the _ Exhibition. The place was crowded with spectators, and the following were the results : Middle-weigjhtts: Tancred beat Gilray. the latter being disqualified, for holding; Clifford beat O’Brien. Heavy-weight: Freeman beat Hunter. y Welter weights : Murphy beat Caddy. Light-weights: Wilson beat Fabling, Valintirie beat McCarthy. Feather-weights-:'Ellis beat Ingham. Bantam-weights : Joblin beat Kutner.
