TOKOMARU BAY NEWS.
CORONATION DAY.
(/■From Our Own. Correspondent.) Coronation Day passed off successfully at Tokomaru Bay. The school children sang “God Save the King” and saluted the flag, after which Coronation medals were presented to them. The chairman of the School Committee (Mr W. Oates, senr.), Mr H. H. Fairlie, and Captain Kossey, addressed the children in terms appropriate to the occasion. „ FOOTBALL. Football is very much alive here just now. Trophies have been presented to the local club for competition by Messrs Little and Topple. ' Mr W.. Oates, senr., has donated a gold medal to be awarded to the best forward in the senior team, and Messrs Oates Bros, have donated caps for the winners of the junior competition. Mr W. Oates, senr., has also generously presented ’ the local club with a set of goal-posts, dressed and painted. The Tologa Bay and Tokomaru Bay senior and junior fifteens will try conclusions here on Saturday next, July Ist. THE TYPHOID EPIDEMIC. Miss Lee, who contracted an attack of typhoid fever a. short time ago, is making steady progress towards recovery at the Waiapu Hospital.
ROAD IMPROVEMENTS
The Waiapu County Council is calling for tenders for forming and metalling the road to the first big bridge- from Tokomaru Bay—a • distance of nine miles.;;
The gloom'which was oast over the township by the death of Mr" Colin Fairlie by typhoid fever last week has not yet entirely lifted. Mr and Mrs Fairlie have the sympathy of the entire community in the untimely death of their promising son, who was very popular and most highly esteemed in the district.
