At Newcastle the New Zealand League team defeated the Hunter River district team by 21 points to 20. DrizEling rain foil, but there was a large attendance. Play was fast and even throughout, and the first half ended Newcastle 12, New Zealand 10. In the second half the visitors turned the tables on their opponents, scoring 11 points to the local’s 8 points. For New Zealand Siddels, Seagar, Mason, Woodward and Stannaway scored tries. Seagar converting two. Mason kicked a penalty goal.
