MR CHATTERTON’S. EXPLANATION.
[TO THJj EDITOtt.J Sir, —With further reference to Mr Chattel-ton’s explanation may I state that I have the authority of the Secretary to the Board of Education for stating that tlie Te Hapara Committee are quite within their rights in working 25 hours per week, that we are not breaking any regulation of the Board in so working, and tha't practically the whole of the schools in this education district are working twenty-five hours, and 01. iy a, few twenty-four and a-half. Mr Chat-tel-ton may he right and the Board's secretary wrong, but any' igno v- *nre I have displayed is a reflection on the latter’s knowledge. If we are exceeding a Board regulation, Mr Chattertcn has a simple remedy at hand. I notice that in his anxiety to enlarge on this very minor point, Mr Chattertcn has forgotten to 'refer to the previous “illegal” method of his Association at the Gisborne School, or to the defeat of his Bible-in-iSbhools ticket at our recent election. —I am, etc.. PERCY ANDREW. Te Hapara.
