BIG FIRE AT MASTERTON.

BUILDINGS ON RACECOURSE

DESTROYED

LFBR PRESS ASSOCIATION.}

MASTERTON, July 9

By a fire at an early Lour tlais morning the whole of the buildings on the Masterton racecourse, including the grandstand, booth, stewards Toom, totalisator house, ladies’ cloak room, press room, secretary’s office, weighing and jockey’s room, and loose boxes were destroyed. The new stand' and judge’s box were the only buildings left. The cause of the fire is a mystery, but it is thought to be the work of an incendiary, as there is evidence of an attempt to burn the remaining stand. The buildings are covered by £1290 insurance in the North British office.
