RAIN INTERFERES WITH SHIPPING. [PEE PEESS ASSOCIATIONS WELLINGTON, July 11. Continuous steady rain at Wellington throughout yesterday considerably hampered cargo handling. The departures of the following vessels were postponed till to-day: Rosamond, for Onehunga, via ports; Koonya, for New Plymouth and West Coast; 'Haupiri, for Picton, East Coast, and Auckland; Iviripaka, for Wanganui and Patea; Tongariro, for Lyttelton; Ascot, for Lyttelton and Dunedin; Aorers. for Patea; Wakain, for Kaikoura and Lyttelton; Queen of the South; for Foxton; Opawa, for Blenheim- Moa. for Wanganui; Blenheim for Blenheim'. RAIN AT MASTERTON CEASES. MASTERTON, July 11. The heavy rains have ceased. During the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. to-day 183 points of rain fell. The slip which occurred on the Alfredton-Eketahnna road yesterday has now: been cleared' away. No groat damage is reported as the result of the rains, but considerable areas of country are flooded, and stock has been: removed to higher land.
