THE HIGH COMMISSIONERSHIP.
WILL SIR WILLIAM HALL-JONES RETIRE? IPEE PRESS ASSOCIATIONS AUCKLAND, July 17. Interviewed, the Hon. G. Fowlds expressed the opinion that the cable message re the High Commissionership could not be accepted as a definite statement that Sir William Hall-Jones intended .retiring from the position. The Minister pointed out that when his term of office expired at. the end. of June, the Cabinet had no information to go upon. It decided to extend his time until the end of August awaiting the return of Sir Joseph Ward. The view he took of the position was that the cable man misunderstood the determination of the Cabinet, and had come to the conclusion that August would see the end of Sir William HallJones’ term of office.
