CYCLING.

BRITANNIA CYCLE CLUB’S TEST RACE.

The committee of the Britannia Qycle Club, at a meeting last night, decided to run the test race to-morrow. The weather, no doubt, has been the cause of so few entries (viz. 14), and the committee decided to rescind the condition with reference to twenty competitors or no race. The prizes for the race are as follow: —Ist prize, first-grade cross-framed ‘ ‘Centaur” racing cycle, presented by Messrs Anderson and Sons; 2nd prize, pair of “Britannia” road racing tyres, presented by Cycle and Motor Supplies, Ltd; special, gold and silver medal for fastest time by competitor outside smin. handicap, presented by Mr. W. H. Mawhinney; special, pair of cycling shoes for fastest time by competitor under 18 years of age, presented by Mr H. J. Andrews; fastest times: two equal sums of cash with gold medal, presented by Mr H. J. Grieve, for first fastest time.

The race is timed' to start at 12.30 from Grey Street corner. All competitors must be at the starting point at 12.15 to draw for positions at the start, each making his own arrangements for a push off. Stewards have been appointed to watch the race at several different points on the route,. No competitor will be allowed to start with single tube tvres. and all must observe the rules of the road. All competitors must be financial Club members before the race, otherwise they will not be allowed to start.
