GATHERING IN AUCKLAND

AUCKLAND, July 24. A public meeting, convened by the local branch of the Anti-militarist .Society for Sunday, decided to hold 1 a public demonstration in about a fortnight. Delegates were appointed to ask the cooperation <if Peace Societies and various working men’s unions to arrange for concerted action to justify the contention that there is intense antagonism to compulsory military training. It was agreed to supply legal advice where required in cases of lads sued for not enrolling, and to communicate with kindred' societies in the Smith with a view to concerted action. MEETING AT WAIHI. WAIT!I, July 24. A meeting was held here last night Under the auspices of the Socialists to protest against compulsory military training. A branch of the movement opposed to the scheme was formed and officers elected. The president of the Socialists said that moral and financial assistance would be given those refusing to register.
