A CHAPTER OF ACCIDENTS. [UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHT.] LONDON, July 23. Seventeen completed the first stage of the Brooklands to Hendon flight for the Daily Mail prize. Vedrines made the quickest time. Beaumont was second. (The Brooklands to Hendon section is 20 miles.) Lieut. Porte, a naval aviator, fell 30ft. His machine was wrecked, but Porte was not hurt. The aviator Kemp fell 50ft. A wing of his machine was crumpled, but Kemp bad a miraculous escape.
