CHAUFFEUR BREAKS THE LAW TO SAVE HER MAJESTY FROM DUST. How a motor-car driver broke the law out of courtesy to Queen Alexandra was described at Kingston Police Court. .. Alfred W. Ware, of Camden road, Kensington, was summoned for exceeding the speed limit on Kingston hill. Police-Constable Beck said he was driving at twenty-eight miles an hour over a measured distance. The officer stopped the car, and Ware informed him that he knew . Queen Alexandra was coming behind him in a motor car, and as the road was dusty he put on speed to get beyond Her Majesty’s car in order that she should not be incommoded by the dust. . This statement being verified, the Bench dismissed the summons.
