MONTHLY MEDAL. There Avas a good muster of players out on the local links on Saturday afternoon,- Avhen the monthly hie dal competition Avas played. P. H. Hamilton carried off the honors, AA-itli a score of 98—18—80. HANDICAP TOURNAMENT. The final in the A grade of the Club’s handicap tournament betiveen G. M. Dodgshun (scr.) and J. Barns-Graham (4), created a good deal of interest, and Avas expected to furnish a close and exciting contest. The game, hoAVever, proved very one-sided, BarnsGraham completely outplaying his opponent, and eventually Avinning in hollow fashion by the large margin of 6 up and sto play. The winner AA-as in irresistible form, and his play all round Avas of a very high standard. He kept a fine direction and got full length with his tee shots, Avhile his short game and play on the greens Avas Avell-nigh faultless. Dodgshun, who has been playing Avell throughout the season, Avas completely overshadoAved, _ and did not play up to anything like his usual form. The final in the B division of the tournament was also played on Saturday, H. Bennett defeating R. Schierning. The Avinner has come on well this season, and if he continues to improve as he has done of late will be heard of amongst the seniors ere long. The serious business of the season will be commenced on Saturday afternoon' next, When the qualifying round for the championship will he played. MANAWATU DEFEATS NAPIER.
