GREAT INCREASE IN COST

The expenditure connected with the administration of the British Civil Service has grown from £30,000,000 to £47,000,000 per annum during the last five years. The scheme of taxation contained in the last Budget has created 817 new posts, the Labor Exchanges 1466, Inland Revenue 200, and State Insurance a host more. The feeling is growing that political supporters of sitting members have been given preference for these positions, and public criticism of the increase and the administration is growing daily.
