(.SPECIAL TO TIMES.] CHRISTCHURCH, August Beyond a fair amount of schooling work, there was not a great deal of work of an interesting nature accomplished this morning. J. H. Prosser’s team, which arrived yesterday, were all given useful work. Dearest finished several lengths in front of Kopek at the end of half a mile on the sand, which she ran in 51 3-ssecs. The latter was bleeding freely alter pulling up. Lovell, commencing at the brusft, fenced in his usual proficient manner in a schooling task over twice round of the big fences. Hawick gave a good display while jumping eight flights of the schooling hurdles. Doggerbank fenced safely, negotiating
two flights of hurdles at strong pace. _ 'Kildonan galloped) a mile on sand in limn 46Jsecs —a fair performance. Compass, Espartero and The Native were companions over five flights of the schooling hurdles, the former pleasing most at the finish. Appin jumped two hurdles safely afterwards, doing half-pacing over a couple of circuits. „ . Itibstone Pippin and Salopian, jumping slowly, pel-formed safely in a schooling task over twice round of the Lig fences. Shillelagh, Gold Pin and Mauri jumped) five flights of schooling hurdles satisfactorily, the former displaying a big improvement on his last effort over the battens. Wiayback, Uncle Torn) and Northern Star set out from the double for a round of the big fences. The former lost his rider at the first fence. _ The other pair, at a slow pace, continued on safely till the last fence, at videh Northern Star .blundered badly and unseated his rider. Paritutu and Le Beau, commencing at the brush, set out to jump over a couple of rounds of the big fences. Both performed) safely till reaching the brush the second time, at which Le Beau lost his rider, leaving Paritutu to finish alone. The son of Castor, although showing a- dislike to the brush fences, otherwise jumped satisfactorily, and cannot be left out of the calculations. Amongst the large number of horses out, the following performed half to useful pacing work : —Eurus, Merrie Zealand, Amaru, Nylandi, Boanerges, Gold Circle, St. _ Aidan, Dorando, The Rover, Whakaweira, Liberty, True'Blue, Antarctic, Hoanga, Honest Tom, Gold Thread, Fasnakyle, Negative and Stepmeter and Murray Aynsley’s team.
