HOCKEY ASSOCIATION BALL.
A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION
The Poverty Bay Hockey Association were favored with an ideal night for their first annual ball, which eventuated at His Majesty’s Theatre last evenprettily and gaily decorated with manycolored- flags, the stage having been tastefully arranged as a drawing-room. Delightful and appropriate music for a programme of eighteen dances was supplied by Messrs. Vita Bros.’ orchestra, and the floor being m perfect order added more fully to the enjoyment of the dancers. The arrangement of the supper was entirely in the ladies’ hands, and reflected great credit for the many dainties supplied. The tables were very much admired with their decorations of spring bulbs. Messrs. A. E. Rees, J. Doyle, W. Ogilvio, and J. Monk capably filled the positions of M.C.’s. Mr. O. R. Olsen, hon. secretary, ably assisted them.
The many pretty frocks worn by the ladies came in for more than passing comment.
Mrs. R. -N. Jones wore black satin, with white : lace* on corsage. Mrs. R. Moore, black silk, red roses on corsage. Miss Nesbitt, white satin, with a tunic of silver tissue trimmed with crystal fringe. Miss Cooper, pale blue Milan-de-soie. Mrs. McFarlane, black satin with jef trimming. Miss Tustin, white satin; the corsage embroidered with pearls. Miss D. Manning, white satin, with tunic of white ninon.
Miss Fromm, pale pink crystalline. Miss Wliinray, cream taffeta. Miss N. Rice, cream deWdrop net, with silver garniture. Miss Westrup, white silk. Miss Gault, white muslin. Miss Dawson, white satin, with crystal trimming. Miss Amy Green, white satin, with a tunic of white chiffon, much trimmed with crystal embroidery. Miss M. Parker, white satin, with short tunic, the corsage trimmed with pearls and silver. Miss I. Parker,* white embroidered muslin.

Miss Gawn, white satin, with tunic of tosca; net edged with silver. Miss M. Ferguson, eau-de-nil silk. Miss M. Sommerville, pale blue charmeuse. Miss R. Malcolm, white silk. Miss Gwen Skinner, white embroidered muslin. Miss Malcolm, pale blue silk. .Mrs. Robinson (Auckland), white chiffon taffeta. Miss Dawson, copper-beach shaded satin. • Miss N. Miss Douglas, white satin charmeuse. Miss Hooper, cream lace frock. Miss McConnell, cream satin, striped voile. Miss Harris (Hangaroa), white satin, much trimmed with silver. Miss F. Black, cream silk, with touches of black.
Miss Fair lie, white muslin. Mrs. Green, grey taffeta, trimmed with black. Mesdames R. X. Jones and R. Moore, Misses M. Moore, E. Fromm, E. Jones, ML. Third, G. Neilson, J. Jones, I. Parker, Messrs. A. E. Rees, W. Ogilvie, J. Doyle, J. Monk, and O. R. Olsen were the committee responsible in a large measure for the undoubted success of the ball.
