An emissary has been sent to England to purchase a cruiser for the Monarchists. At the present time 35,000 troops are protecting the northern frontier, and the Government is now despatching a large force to guard the southern frontier. The authorities 6tate that they could mobilise 100,000 men if necessary. Food supplies, including olive oil, one of the principal necessities of the poorer classes, have risen unaccountably since the revolution. Recently 4000 people marched in procession to the Parliament buildings, where the National Assembly was in session, and protested against the high prices they were compelled to pay for the necessaries of life. Troops dispersed the crowd.
