A TRANSCONTINENTAL FLIGHT. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. NEW YORK, Sept. 12. Mr. Fowler has started on his transcontinental journey from San Francisco to New York. He covered 126 miles on the first day. A FLIGHT THAT FAILED. SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 12. Fowler, the aviator, in attempting to cross the Sierras, fell, through the rudder failing to work. The aeroplane was wrecked, but Fowler escaped with a few bruises. A FEMALE FLYER. (Received Sept. 13, 10.40 p.m.) PARIS, Sept. 13. Mademoiselle Helene Durtieu aeroplaned 143 miles at Chalons, winning the Femina Cup.
