DOMINION DAY.

CELEBRATION IN WELLINGTON. • t'EB PRESS ASSOCIATION.! WELLINGTON. Sept. 20. Arrangements in connection with, the celebration in Wellington of Dominion Day (next Monday) are officially announced. At 11 a.m. the public school children will assemble at their various schools and salute the flag, after which thev will be dismissed for the remainder of the day. A great demonstration will be made in the afternoon at Newtown Park by the senior and junior cadets, who are expected to assemble about 1500 • strong, and the Governor and Prime Minister will be present. In the evening a citizens’ reception and concert will be held in the Town Hall. The Mayor is to preside, and the Governor and Prime Minister are to give addresses.

THE HOLIDAY QUESTION. ATTITUDE OF THE GOVERNMENT. {From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 20.' In reply to Mr Wilford it was stated yesterday by the Hon. J. A. Millar that instructions had been issued that a whole holiday would be given in the railway workshops on Dominion Day. The Labor Department had received a legal opinion that shops closing on Dominion Day would not require to close on the statutory half-day, and this opinion would be acted upon.*
