The large supply of Scotch and Dutch this week affects the market. The demand is falling off, but the output is satisfactory. Moderate supplies are coming forward, and prices are well maintained. Canterbury, 51d; other than Canterbury, s£d. The beef market is quiet, but holders are firm. The market has been favorably affected by the chilled beef offering being very small. New Zealand pork is at sd. The butter market is firm, with an upward tendency on account of the moderate supply. The Irish strike also affects the market. . Danish, 1355; Australian, 1255; Siberian, 121 s. The cheese market is active, with a Sood demand. Holders are firm. Canaian, 725. New Zealand stock has been cleared. The hemp market is quiet, but moderate business is doing. New Zealand, good to fair, on spot, £l9 15s; fair grade, £lB 15s; fair current Manila, £2O; forward shipment New Zealand, good fair £2O, fair grade £l9, fair current Manila £2O 15s. The output from Manila for the week was 25,000 bales. The wool market is quiet and small business is doing. Wheat is in poor demand, buyers holding back on account of the high prices. New Zealand long-berried wheat on spot, ex granary, per quarter of 4961b5, 34s 6d; short-berried, 33s 6d. The oat market is firm owing to the reduced supplies. New Zealand short sparrowbills, ex granary, on spot, per quarter of 3841b5, 21s 9d; Danish, per quarter of 3201b5, 18s 3d. In cocksfoot seed there is no change to report (note previous report dated 25th August, as follows, viz., the market quiet. It is reported that Continental crop is medium in quantity, of good quality, and selling at 655).
