SUMMARY AND FORECAST. LPEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.! WELLINGTON, Sept, 29. The Meteorological Office to 7 night issued the following weather summary; and forecast: — . ... , .-.. The barometer has .risen iff the .South bitt fallen slowly; .in the'northe.n districts. Rain has fallen iff most parts of the country,, and snow and hail in. Abe south. ‘ Southerly winds-have prevailed strong to gale in parts. Present indications are for strong southerly winds, cold and showery weather, and a slowly rising barometer, but a fall will probably follow shortly. CHANGEABLE WEATHER. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 28. North Canterbury is experiencing mixed and unwelcome weather. Yesterday was bright and sunny. A southwest gale sprang up last evening, with frequent showers. Towards morning the temperature fell. Some snow fell in the city, and there was heavy hail and' sleet. There has been a heavy fall of snow inland, and when the clouds lifted this morinng the foot of the hills was seen to.,be smothered. Farmers in town to-day express fear that the change from yesterday has been disastrous to lambs. A COLD »NAP. DUNEDIN, Sept. 29. A cold snap has been experienced throughout Otago, with a fresh covering of snow on the higher levels. Reports from the country say that had the fall been a week later the effect would have been disastrous on young lambs. ‘
