The Nottingham worm gatherers have been on strike. Worm-gathering is quite an important industry in the district. Nottingham worms are mucb sought after by anglers'. ' The gatherers. who work by night in the fields, until a few days.ago received from l the dealers 2s per 1(300 worms. They they demanded an extra sixpence per 1000. The increase was granted, but was followed the next morning by a demand for another shilling. This was refused, and the strike ensued. A compromise has, however, now been effected. The worm gatherers are to receive from 2s 6‘d to 3s per 1000 bait, according to quality.
