FIRES.
JOINERY FACTORY DESTROYED. [PEE PEESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, October 4. Fire destx’oyed a joinery factory owned by Frederick Phipps, at Ponsonbv, last evening. The building was insured for £1350 in the London and Lancashire office, but the owner estimates his loss at considerably above his insurance. The adjoining residence, owned by Wm. Cowley, was damaged to the extent of about £IOO. The cause of the fire is unknown. TWO-STOREY BUILDING ABLAZE. HAWEKA, October 4. A fire occurred last night in a twostory building, owned by the Barleyman Estate, and occupied by N. T. Richardson, dentist, and P. O’Dea, solicitor. It was got under control in fifteen minutes. Richardson’s , work room and fittings were wholly destroyed, his loss being estimated at £2OO. O’Dea, who occupied the bottom /floor, suffered a slight loss. The building was insured ror £9OO in the National Office. Richardson had his fixings and furniture insured for £3OO in the Norwich Union office, and O’Dea for £l5O in the Ocean office.
