The Auckland Tramways Company has placed an order for the construction of five more cars in England, similar to those now being constructed locally. This will bring the total number of cars up to 126. . The number of cars now in commission is 108. Messrs. Baldwin and Hayward, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, report that amongst the many applications for patents they have just filed are—A. Fibbes and J. A. C. Clyma, Timaru, road grading implements; E. H. Bridge, Victoria, telephone call recorder; T. M. Abbott, Christchurch, phonograph record repeating attachment; J. F» ** ilson, Dunedin, variable speed gear.; JN. Harvey, Wellington, . electric lamp holder.*
