T WEN TY-THREE R ECOMMEN D ED. LSPECIA.L TO TIKES.} WELLINGTON, Oct. 21. Grants totalling £420 have been iecommended by the £ nder-Secretary for L nds for twenty-three of the veterans who claimed recognition for service in .\ow Zealand. The stipendiary magistrate recommended thirty-nine claimants for favorable consideration, and these recommendations had been examined and compared with other claims, with the result that twenty-three of the veterans have been passed, and the .sum of £4-20 is the total amount involved. There remain sixteen cases favorably reported upon by the Magistrates'which are not included the 'ider-Secretary's recommendation.-,. The paper states that it is understood that there are still a few cases witn magistrates which have not yet been decided.
