HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 23. The High Commissioner’s cabled market report, dated London, 21st October, states: The mutton market is quiet, but holders are firm, as stocks on hand are light and firmly held in few hands. Canterbury, 4jd;_ North Island, ijjjd- The lamb market is quiet. There is less demand. Canterbury, sd; other than Canterbury, 4-gd. The boot' market is very dull. The supply exceeds the demand. New Zealand hindquarters. 3id; forequarters, 2|d. The butter market is lifeless, transactions are very limited, and buyer's are not inclined to make forward purchases at the present prices. Danish 140 s, Siberian 1235. Australian 1295. Cheese: There is no alteration since last week. Canadian, 69s 6d. The hemp market is a shade weaker. New Zealand, good to fair, on spot, £2O; fair grade, £2O 5s per ton; Oetober-December shipment, New Zealand, good to fair, £2O 10s; fair grade. £l9 10s; fair current Manila £2O 10s j>cr ton. The output from Manila for the week was 27,000 bales. The cocksfoot seed market is firm. There are light stocks on hand. The wool market is weaker, and slightly lower. Current quotations for Bradford tops are: 36is {low crossbreds) Is Id, 40’s (low crossbreds) Is lid, 44’s (medium crossbreds) Is l{d, 44’s (medium crossbreds) Is 1-kl, 50’s (halfhreds) Is old, 56’s (quarter-breds) Is Sd, 69’s (merinos) 2s Id.
