P.B. ASSOCIATION.

At the usual weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association last night, it was announced that, owing chiefly to the generosity of Mr Fred. Walker, the Association were in. a position to provide a handsome shield, for the winners of the junior competition. The trophy wiif be called the Walker Shield, and stouhi undoubtedly add much interest to the competition. .It was decided to request the various clubs to forward the names of all players available to take part in the all-day match against the Waingake eleven at Victoria Domain on Saturday next to the solo selector, Mr O. R. Olsen, in order that the town eleven might be selected as soon as possible.

RANGATIRA v. OTOKO

At Te Karaka yesterday the Rangatira Cricket Club met the Otoko Club, and an interesting match was played, the result, Otoko winning by two runs on the first innings, being very close. Rangatiira, batted first, and knocked up 49 the principal scores being M. McMahon 8, W. Green 12, P- J. Softon and Dr. Wi Repa 7. Hosier took five 'wickets and Griffiths four. Otoko responded with 51, Sotheran 11, Stevens (not out) 11, and Turner 7, being the chief scorers, while Softon took six wickets and McMahon four. . During the afternoon, tea was provided by Mesdames Foote and Dutton.

ALHAMBRA v. MURIWAI

A team from the Alhambra Club journeyed out to Muiiwai last week, and played a friendly match with the Muiiwai Club. The town team batted first, and, thanks to a fine essay with the bat by their captain (O. R. Olsen) for 62 they totalled 143. Dudfield (13), McLisky (13), W. Tate (10), and S. Hird (11) also notched double-figure scores. W. J. Scholium, the Mumvai captain, was in capital form with the hall, and bagged four victims ,at small oost with his express deliveries. In all 'he sent down 22 overs for 44 runs, which speaks of length and steadiness. The country batsmen had apparently not yet struck form, and could only total 55 in their initial venture. Of this score, J. L. Baker was responsible for 17, and T. Scholium for 10. Following on, the country men fared even worse, as with, two men short, they fell for 40. J. L. Baker again reached double figures with an even dozen, while W. J? Scholium hit up 14. T. Atkinson (six for 30) and F. Walker (four for 5) Avere the destroying angels with the ball on the town side, The townsmen were hospitably entertained bv the country club, and altogether the outing proved a very pleasant one.
