POVERTY BAY TURF CLUB.

SPRING MEETING. OPENS TO-DAY. The Poverty Bay Turf Club’s spring meeting will commence at Makaraka "to-day, and given fine weather the gathering should be one of the most successful that has been held in Gisborne for some time past. The course is in excellent order, and the fields are very satisfactory. There are a number of horses from the south competing, and .their presence will lend additional interest to the various events. Conveyances will run to the coui’se at frequent intervals, and a special train service to and from the course has been arranged by the Railway Department. The* first race is timed: to start at 12.45 p.m.
