LTO THE EDITOR.] Sir, —On reading over tlie programme for the sports meeting to be held at Patutahi, I avus surprised to see that for the runners the sprinters alone- had been catered for. This is rather hard luck for the distance uimiens (I can- assure A-ou they are in the majority in Gisborne) avlio hav 0 been training hard for this' meeting. Whv they should ho ignored is more than I can understand, as I am sure, from a spectator’s point of view, a half-mile or mile rate is far more interesting tea Avatcli than a sprint that is over in a breath, and Avhich half the people do not see.- Another tiling, I should say from the large field that started in the half-mile event at these sports last year, the .nomination money moret hail paid for the miserable prize money that Avas given.—l am, etc.,
