PARLIAMENTARY NOTES.
MILITARY PENSIONS.
ONLY A CHANGE IN NAME
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 26. The Military Pensions Bill, which was introduced in the House of Representatives early this morning, provided that any person entitled to a pension under the Old Age Pensions Act who served as a soldier in any Maori war shall be entitled, in lieu of a pension under that act, to a- military pension of the same amount. The conditions will be the same as those controlling the granting of old age pensions. The question whether a person is entitled to a military pension instead of an old age pension will be decided by the magistrate to whom the application for a pension is made.
A Press telegram from Christchurch states that Mr W. J. Walter has decided to stand for Avon in the Opposition interests.
