Progressive tennis was played during the early portion of the afternoon, and Hie following ladies participated:—Mesdames Carmichael, Maude, Dover, Adair, Traill, McLernon, Misses Hill, Mac--Cready, Ensor, Agnew-Brown, Coleman, and Black. Afternoon tea was provided by the members of the club, and was presided© over by Mrs. W. A. O’Meara, and was much appreciated. Mrs. Carmichael, in a very neat speech, thanked the donors, and said that she had spent many happy hours on the Gisborne Lawn Tennis Club’s courts. Three cheers were given for Mrs. .Carmichael, and the afternoon closed with miscellaneous games.
