HIGH COAIAIISbTONEIUS REPORT
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 30. The High Commissioner’s cable, dated London, October 28th, states:—“The mutton market is quiet but steady, poor demand continues, but the stock is moderate. Aledium and heavy weights are getting very scarce. Canterbury 4-J-d, North Island 3§d, ewes 3gd. The lamb market is dull. There is .very little business doing. Canterbury, 4jjd.' The stock of lamb selling is light. New season’s River Plate beef are heavy. Nominal quotations: New Zealand hindquar. tors, .'Pd, forequarters 2§d : chilled hindquarters 3td, forequarters 21 d. The butter market is quiet, but steady after the decline. Danish 1375. Siberian 119 s, Australian *12785. The cheese market is quiet. The demand is improving, but prices are unchanged. Canadian, 67s to 665. The hemp market is quiet, with small business doing. Holders are firm. New Zealand good fair, on spot, per ton, £2O 15s, fair grade £l9 os petton ; current Manila £2O os; October to December shipments, good fair current Manila £2O os. The output from Manila for the week was 24,000 bales. The cocksfoot seed market is firm. Owing to the recent drought an increasing demand is anticipated during te coming season. Danish is quoted at 755. The wool market is somewhat steadier.”
